And, Now, She Knows

From the graveyard of her love,
near the tombstone of her heart,
the lovely maiden quests
and asks, “Why did they part?”

From the valley of her tears
come the echoes of her cries,
as she stares at unseen bones
through quasi-windowed eyes.

Then silence enters here,
she finally guesses why
the boys are sent to war,
the boys are sent to die.

It's for the pride and greed
of speakers shouting lies
that mention freedom's cause
and praise the tool that dies.
