Chairs

Darkness descends
upon this poetry.
The footlights fade
to black.
Ahead of me,
beneath the stage,
I see chairs.

Growling
Snarling
Smiling
Frightening
Chairs

I attempt
to commence
my soliloquy,
but the utterance
has been captured
by a
strong and strange silence.
All I can see are chairs.

Sinister
Animated
Fanged
Reaching
Chairs

The surreal experience
freezes me like nitrogen.
Frigid heat prevents movement.
Filled with fear,
I still can see chairs.

Approaching
Crablike
Angry
Hungry
Chairs
