inroads were carved
  as the future experienced
  a power outage

  the quarterback
  looking a little like
  the cat who ate the canary
  called for an end run

  the opponents
  were fooled
  surprised
  like coffee is
  when powdered milk
  is sprinkled in it

  no sugar tonight
  tomorrow
  yesterday took it
  and ran

  stealth run
  waterfalls
  of
  waterfalls
  flowed
  but the quarterback
  never noticed

  he called for an end run
