Inquiry Sonnet
Why is it that people injure the ones
who, by their ties, they should care most about?
Why does concealment hide their deepest doubt
with act afflicting hurt and word that stuns?
Why is it life can cause us each such pain?
From where do these attacks of hate commence?
Why do those closest to us build a fence?
What is it, by this distance, will they gain?
Why is humanity destined to hide
thoughtful temperance? Why can’t they devote
their hearts and help to those that need their guide?
Why must they selfishly remain remote?
Who will those who have forsaken their pride
reach out to with the worried words they wrote?
