Today I thought of it,
as many times before
I thought of it
without really
thinking at all.
Their windows plastered
with advertisement,
what do thoughts
alone
really offer?
For what is a thought
in the wake
of idleness?
A thought
which remains part
of the invisible mind might
just as well
have never been thought,
for it doesn’t exist
in reality.
And when thoughts
are conveyed
to an ear
which is closed
by a mind
wrapped around
and within itself,
they are,
yet,
not conveyed.
A heart
may be opened,
but it is
an empty heart
if it has
never taken in
what the ear
has shunned away
through greed
or selfishness
or one of many faults
which all people have
to some extent.
